Short description
Knowmad: Words & Flashcards is a reading app for iPhone and iPad that helps you remember what you read: you turn passages and figures from your own books into flashcards linked to their page, save new words with a definition in simple words or a translation, and review both with spaced repetition.
Longer description
Knowmad is for anyone who reads to learn: people reading for work, people teaching themselves from textbooks, people learning a language from real books, and people working through nonfiction on a subject they care about.
While reading, you select text or crop a figure to make a flashcard, and every card keeps a link to the page it came from. You select a new word and tap Define to get a definition in simple words or a translation, chosen once for each language. The sentence where you found the word becomes its first example. Spaced repetition then brings flashcards and words back after growing intervals, and words are practiced with three kinds of questions: choosing, building and typing the word.
Knowmad has no account, no streaks and no notifications. Books stay in the user's own iCloud or on the device, and flashcards and words sync through the user's own private iCloud database. AI features are optional and run on the device with Apple Intelligence, or with the user's own OpenAI or Google Gemini API key.
